Upload pipeline
What actually happens when you add a document.
The pipeline is the product. It is why a scanned birth certificate is safe, searchable and recoverable rather than just a photo in a camera roll.

Upload authorised, then straight to storage
The app issues a short-lived upload authorisation and the file goes directly to encrypted object storage. Application servers never handle the bytes, so a 400 MB imaging file does not slow the product down.

Quarantine and malware scan
Every file lands in quarantine first. Nothing becomes visible or downloadable until it has passed a virus and malware scan.

Metadata recorded
Owner, matter, folder, type, MIME, size, uploader, encryption details, access classification, retention state and version number are written to the database. The document itself is never stored in the database.

OCR queued, thumbnail generated
Text extraction runs in a background worker so the interface stays responsive. Once complete, the words inside the page become searchable.

Available, and versioned from then on
Re-uploading a document creates version 2 rather than silently overwriting version 1. Every version stays retrievable.
Guarantees
The boring parts that matter at 11pm the night before a hearing.
Resumable uploads
Multipart and resumable transfers mean a dropped connection does not restart a large medical record from zero.
Temporary access links
Raw storage locations are never exposed. Opening a document mints a short-lived authorised link.
Soft delete with retention
Deleting moves a document to Deleted Items for a retention window. Legal holds override deletion entirely.
Recoverable after device loss
Nothing lives only on the handset. Sign in elsewhere, revoke the lost device, and everything is still there.
Privacy by design
Your birth certificate does not become firm property the moment you hire a lawyer.
Every document carries its own access level. An attorney has to ask, you decide whether to grant the whole folder or only specific files, and you can revoke it later. Every view is written to an audit trail you can read.
Nothing is shared by default
Documents start Private. Uploading to CourtDocs shares them with nobody.
Firms are separate tenants
Firm A has no technical path to Firm B clients, files or matters.
Even CourtDocs staff must ask
Administrators cannot open a restricted document without elevated authorisation, and doing so writes an audit record.
